Overview

Mount Feathertop is Victoria's second-highest peak, and arguably the most spectacular! It is commonly used as a training hike for those heading off on big international trips for its elevation gain and can usually be summited and back to the car in a day. In winter though, Mount Feathertop becomes a whole different experience. Alpine areas require a huge range of skills and experience to be safely navigated during the winter months and we believe that anyone should have the pleasure of experiencing a place like this - which is why we use our experience to enable you to get out there safely!

This program is designed for those with experience in the outdoors and looking to learn more skills to be comfortable in steep snow environments. This is an 'ascent' style trip where we travel up and back on the same route with the objecting of learning the skills we need to make the summit. Our team will still carry all the food and cooking equipment, plus group safety gear, while you will need to carry your personal clothing and equipment. Your efforts will be well rewarded with some of the most spectacular vistas Victoria has to offer in the winter.

We will learn how to walk in crampons, hold an ice axe and self-arrest in case you take a tumble. We will then put these skills to the test and make a summit attempt on Mount Feathertop - Weather permitting.

Highlights:
